Team Roster

A team roster section where a column of group chips filters a horizontal card slider. Click someone and a dark blurred panel fades in over their photo with a short profile. Every card is the same size and carries a LinkedIn and an X link.

The craft

How it's built.

Every card is the same size, on purpose. The obvious move on a roster slider is to grow the athlete you are on, but that shifts the whole strip every time you move and the layout never settles. Here the active person is marked one quiet way instead: their photo comes up to full colour while the others sit slightly desaturated. Nothing resizes, so the roster reads as one steady strip.

Filtering is the section's signature moment. The people leaving drop away faster than the new ones arrive, because leaving is a decision and arriving is the roster settling into place.

The track position always comes from the card index and the step width, never from measuring whichever card happens to sit under the viewport edge, so a resize or a filter change cannot drift the slider half a card off. Drag, the arrow keys and the chips all go through the same travel.

Clicking a card opens a panel over the photo, which is the one place a slider usually breaks: the same press can mean drag or open. The card's trigger checks whether the pointer actually moved before it opens anything, so a flick through the roster never leaves a panel behind. Opening also brings that card in from the edge first, because a bio half outside the frame is not worth reading.
